  • This calculator is designed to assist users in evaluating potential consumption, cost and CO₂ emissions associated with various Katrin tissue options.
  • This calculator is designed for comparing Katrin products only. Independent industry associations advise that CO₂e figures from different manufacturers should not be compared because there is no guarantee that they have been calculated in the same way.
  • The calculations were done by a third party; AFRY* according to their standard calculations. They are ”cradle-to-gate” calculations, applying the ISO 14067:2018 standard. Calculations are based on sheet use in grams per hand drying. The sheet use is Metsä's expert estimation and changeable upon need. Grams are based on actual tissue weight.
  • The CO₂ figures, calculated using average data from Metsä's mills, are considered conservative estimates and likely overestimate the emissions vs actual emissions.
  • The intended use is for guiding professional sales teams and buyers to better assess different Katrin products. It is not a tool intended for consumer use. It is not a tool intended for consumer use.
  • It must not be used to create claims or product specific information or be re-published online or in any printed materials.
  • While the tool calculates CO₂e, this communication uses the expression CO₂ for simplicity of reading.

Laskimen käyttötarkoitus, kohdeyleisö ja rajoitukset

Tämä laskin on suunniteltu auttamaan käyttäjiä arvioimaan erilaisiin Katrin- pehmopaperivaihtoehtoihin liittyvää mahdollista kulutusta, kustannuksia ja CO₂-päästöjä. Metsä Tissuen Katrin-pehmopaperin hiilijalanjälki perustuu yrityksen omista tehtaista ja arvoketjuista kerättyihin tietoihin.

Tämä laskin on tarkoitettu myyntihenkilöstön koulutukseen ja sitä käytetään yhdessä asiakkaan kanssa. Se on suunniteltu ammattikäyttöön B2B-yhteyksissä, eikä sitä ole tarkoitettu kuluttajille. Käyttäjät voivat muokata kaikkia syöttöarvoja, jotta ne heijastavat tietoja paremmin, varmistaen näin prosessin läpinäkyvyyden. Laskin laskee kunkin pehmopaperivaihtoehdon tulokset annettujen tietojen perusteella. CO₂-lukuja, jotka on laskettu Metsän tehtaidemme keskimääräisiin tietoihin perustuen, pidetään varovaisina arvioina, ja ne todennäköisesti yliarvioivat päästöt verrattuna todellisiin päästöihin.

Tämä työkalu ei ole elinkaariarvioinnin (Life Cycle Assessment, LCA) laskelma, vaan se toimii pikemminkin eri muuttujien simulaationa eri Katrin- pehmopaperivaihtoehtojen vertailun helpottamiseksi. Siksi laskelmia ei saa käyttää tiettyjä tuotteita koskevien väittämien luomiseen, eikä niitä saa julkaista tai uudelleenpainaa.

Laskelmat on tehnyt kolmas osapuoli, AFRY, vakiolaskelmiensa mukaisesti Metsän tehdaskohtaisten keskiarvojen pohjalta. Laskelmat on tehty ”gradle-to-gate ” -periaatteella, ISO 14067:2018 -standardia soveltaen. Tuotteiden ympäristöjalanjälkeä koskevat tuotekohtaiset säännöt (Product Environmental Footprint Category Rules, PEFCR-säännöt) jalanjäljen laskentaa varten (vaikutusluokka GWP). Tutkimukseen ei sisällytetty muita PEFCR-sääntöjen vaikutusluokkia. PEFCR-sääntöjen ”gradle-to-gate” -lähestymistavan ja eri tuotantovaihdeiden lisäksi tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin myös pehmopaperin konvertointi.

CO₂-laskelmat perustuvat arkin käyttöön grammoina käsien kuivausta kohti. Arkin käyttö on Metsän asiantuntija-arvio ja muutettavissa tarpeen mukaan. Grammat perustuvat todelliseen pehmopaperin painoon. Ilmastovaikutusten lisäksi pehmopaperituotteilla on useita muita ympäristövaikutuksia, kuten luonnonvarojen kulutukseen, luonnon monimuotoisuuteen ja vedenkäyttöön liittyvät vaikutukset. VTT:n elinkaariarvioinnin asiantuntijat tarkastelivat laskinta ja sen CO₂-päästölaskentaa ja tietolähteisiin liittyviä toimintoja laskurin kehittämisen aikana. Tarkastelun perusteella laskurin toiminnallisuuksia sekä taustatietojen ja oletusten läpinäkyvyyttä parannettiin.
